Amos 5:24

Have you seen "Unscheduled Stops" post over at Mason Dixon Knitting? Ann great job of providing us with a witty, educational, and incredibly moving post all-in-one.

I mention this post in particular because Ann highlights a work by Maya Lin which quotes Amos 5:24. And it just so happens that TBG recently carved a boss-stone at the Washington National Cathedral which interpreted this same verse. Chas Fagan is the sculptor.

Below are pictures of his "practice" piece:

Note: For those of you not familiar with the relationship between the sculptor and the carver - the carver is responsible for translating the sculptor's work into stone.

Thanks to Kay for asking to see the pictures.

THE BOX

Just look what I've got:

How lucky and I to have been the first person to raid the box?!

I was all set to photograph each and every bit of treasure contained within.

Then, I remembered that I can't.

I can't show you what I'm putting in - because it is top secret - and I can't show you what I've taken out - because I forgot to take a picture.

So, dear friends, I'll show you the contents of a different box.

This box holds a super-special treat (home-baked Blondies) for my friend Kate's birthday.

Fellow Raiders - prepare yourselves!

Soft and Silent

While working yesterday TBG made a new friend.

ETA: TGB took this pic - along with several others - while the butterfly was contently sitting atop his finger. He said the butterfly was flitting around for a little while so he put out a finger to see what would happen. The butterfly came in for a landing, tasted the salt of TBG's skin (he'd been working outside in 90F degree heat), posed for pictures (taken via cell phone camera), then went on its' merry way.

SP12: Questions 4 and 2 - UPDATED

I am a bit behind with my SP12 homework - bear with me please if you don't happen to be my upstream pal.

Week 4's questions:
1) What yarn (that you don’t have/haven’t used) would make your stash “complete”? There are tons of answers to this question - mainly because I keep my stash fairly small (really TBG, I don't have nearly as much yarn as many of my knitty pals!). I am a dreamer though, and some day I hope to get around to buying something from The Yarn Yard, Sunshine Yarns and maybe, just maybe some qiviut.
2) What yarn do you never want to be without?
Posh Yarn - it is killing me that getting this beautiful yarny goodness has become so difficult.

Week 2's Question:
In many parts of the US and abroad, school’s out. Take a walk down memory lane for Week Two’s question:

As a kid, what did you look forward to most about summer vacation/break/holiday? Our family vacation - usually to Myrtle Beach, SC - and amusement park trips - and visiting/staying with my cousins - and being lazy - and...

Add'l note to my pal: I have been giving the clues you've presented a lot of thought and I've decided what my first guess will be. You are a german -shepherd -owning-tea-drinking- zoo -keeper who likes to send Indy stuff just to lead me astray.

ps: I'm almost afraid to reveal my ignorance by asking this...what is bubble tea?

UPDATING TO ADD PICS!

This is the first f/o I've posted in a long, long time. My Bubbly Curtain (Re-do). I knitted this using Rowan Linen Drape and l-o-v-e the results!! Though it still needs to be blocked and starched. Note: it really is not too short for the window, I've just hung it in an unusual way to get a 1/2 way decent pic. There is a fig tree on the other side of this window and it is beautiful - but it blocks the light making picture taking tricky!

And this beautiful package is from Hipknits. The aran silk (left side of pic) was generously donated as a prize in my "craptastic" drawing. I'll be completely honest and tell you that I am kind of hoping that I don't hear from Katjuska because this is one prize that I would really like to keep. (Note to Dyan, Katjuska, and Kitty: I need to get your mailing addresses from you - please email me via mommyofdennisATgmailDOTcom - Laurel's mini quilt is already on its way to her!) The gorgeous Seaglass lace yarn (right side of pic) is for ME! My first installment of the Hipknits project club. I'm anxious to c/o with that tonight : )
